About Dr. Saadia Virk

Dr. Saadia Virk began her career at Aga Khan University with a degree in medicine. Following that, she completed her training at St Mary’s Hospital in London and Basingstoke General Hospital in North Hampshire. She is certified in laparoscopic surgery by the Europa College of Hamburg and Strasbourg University Hospitals, and she has attended workshops for her specialism in Atlanta and with the American Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF), cancer, high-risk obstetrics, urogynaecology, and laparoscopic surgery are among her specialties.

Dr. Saadia is also the CEO and chairperson of the board of directors at South City Hospital, in addition to her work as a doctor. After the closing of Mideast Medical Center in 2005, she formed a group of doctors to buy it from the former owners.

Ob-gyn specialist Dr. Saadia established the department at OMI Hospital in 1996, then moved to Mideast Medical Centre a year later in 1998. She refurbished the historic South City Hospital building and added a second phase of new construction to it.

She established the department of obstetrics and gynaecology, as well as the critical care units, surgery, cardiology, and orthopaedics departments, while working at the hospital. Her non-clinical strength, therefore, is hospital development and set-up.

As the Covid-19 pandemic approached in 2020, Dr. Saadia Virk and her team of associates were prepared for what the future might hold. After conducting considerable investigation, the team made swift steps to prepare SCH to tackle the Covid-19 virus while not ignoring ongoing medical care. Dr. Virk instituted zoning, dividing the campus into Covid and non-Covid areas. The CoVid-19 unit and ER were developed using state-of-the-art equipment and medical specialists to treat a wide range of illnesses.

In addition, negative pressure devices were put in the hospital to help prevent cross-contamination. All hospital employees were examined on a regular basis, and PCR testing became mandatory for all new admissions. As a result, the hospital’s patients and employees received high-quality care.

Dr. Saadia Virk has her large practice at the main South City Building by the name of Dr. Saadia Virk and Associates.
